If we’d had more rain this past year then Blue Mountain Creek might have lived up to its name. However it’s dry, so we walk along the creek bed.

Do you see that cleared area way back on the horizon in the distance?

… well, there are some buildings there.

Over a century ago there was a goldfield south-east of Armidale by the name of Melrose. Like many such areas it was viable for only a short time. The ruins of the tiny proto-township of Melrose now sits on private property – so we didn’t visit it – but this view is from an adjacent area.
