Having travelled south-west down the Strzelecki Track to Lyndhurst, we now head north-west up the Oodnadatta Track to Marree for the night. On the way we stop at the Ochre Pit. We’ve visited this important aboriginal site several times previously but this time, being later in the day, the low afternoon sun highlights the ochre’s colours.

The Ochre Pit north of Lyndhurst on the Oodnadatta Track is an important Aboriginal heritage site. The ochre, in various colours, was highly sought after and traded.
