First frost of the season

This morning saw the first frost of the season with hoar frost growing perpendicular to the blades of grass. It was -0.8°C (30.6°F) at 6:32 am with us.

[Trivia: The adjective “hoar” comes from old English meaning “greyish white; grey or grey-haired with age”].
