The Rose-eating Swamp Wallaby

This old male Swamp Wallaby (Wallabia bicolor) is a regular around the house. He loves to eat rose leaves from our potted garden. It looks like he doesn’t mind vine leaves either. He’s become used to us and here he let me get within about 1 metre (3 or 4 feet) before he decided that that was close enough.

Yes, I find the birds around Hillgrove can be very bold, particularly the tiny ones. This Red-browed Firetail Finch let me get to about 3m away before he decised I was too close, and even then he only hopped out of the tree into the shrub behind him… https://flic.kr/p/Je5TJi
