Some 90km or so out of Innamincka, heading down the Strzelecki Track through the Strzelecki Desert, we pass Moomba, the Santos company plant that processes gas and crude oil. Moomba sits in the middle of nowhere but, if you’re so inclined, is a communications mecca for the traveller as Telstra NextG mobile (cellular) communications sparks into life as you pass by.

Moomba itself is out of bounds to the public though there is a crude visitors area where this distant view can be had.
