Lovely shot! Such wonderful little birds. I’d guess they might be nesting though pardalotes do surprise sometimes by coming down from their normal heights to examine you closely for no apparent reason. I love those moments. I don’t know if I can or if it’s socially acceptable to link in a blog comment, but here’s an attempt at pointing you to two of my favourite pardalote moments: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozjulian/5323255902/http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozjulian/5055079765/
By the way, I just read your ‘about’ page, you neglected to say you live in one of the most wonderful places in Australia. The area to the east in particular is as good as it gets on this planet. Ebor to Hernani, Guy Fawkes River … Point Lookout … But you can go in any direction from your place and find uncommon wonderfulness, I’m envious.
Now I am impressed. I never see them low enough to get a shot.
