Outback 2011: The Amphitheatre interior

Inside, Carnarvon National Park’s “Amphitheatre” is a vast cylinder with wonderfully water-carved walls. The floor is its own self-contained microcosm which, in times of heavy rain, gets washed out and starts again.

The walls extend vertically upwards, and lead to the sky.
