This old cottage has intrigued me for years. It sits mid-way between the road and the railway line. I wonder about its history. Was it always without garden? Without a fence? Was it a worker’s cottage? Or that of the owner of the land?

Great shot Gordon. You can certainly imagine cold winter air sweeping down onto this little cottage.
Oh yes. I hadn’t thought as far as how cold it might get in that location! There may, of course, have been vegetation and/or trees around the cottage at some point in its history, but that may not have helped all that much (temperature-wise).
It seems such a waste to leave such a dwelling to decay.
