Businesses come and go. Some just can’t turn a profit and so close. Others become less relevant and so wither and die. And some are bought by larger entities and are absorbed. Wright Heaton had a presence in Armidale until about 25 or so years ago. This painted gable is all that is left to remind us. In time the sign will be painted over, or the building demolished.

MY FIST JOB AFTER LEAVING SCHOOL IN MID 1955 WAS WITH WRIGHT HEATON & CO IN WELLINGTON NSW. MANAGER WAS MR DICK MEECHAM. MY GRANDFATHER, MR TED RYAN, HAD 50 YEARS WITH THE COMPANY, 30 AS A MANAGER.
I’m trying to find out the address of Wright Heaton in Pymont, Sydney back in the 1960’s. My mums boyfriend of ten years was Emil Hackenberg and he worked at Wright Heatons in Pymont I think it was in their tobacco area. I went there twice and the plac e was full of various brands and types. He would have been there between som ewhere in the 1950’s and up until the early 1970’s. Would anyone have any idea what the address was in Pyrmont where the main warehouse/distribution centre was. Thanks kindly, Kevin.
