We explored some new territory today. Washpool National Park sits about 170 km (105 miles) north north-east of Armidale. It is World Heritage listed and is a noted wilderness area. We followed two of the park’s tracks – the first, the Washpool Walk, was through thick, moist, warm-temperate rainforest. I’m pleased to report that only 5 of the 32 leeches that I picked from my boots, socks, and feet managed to get as far as drawing blood.
