Oh deer!

Deer come to visit

I’m well used to the garden (if I may be so bold as to call the area around the house such a thing) being visited by many different animals and birds. This morning, though, when I glanced out the window while making breakfast I had to do a double-take when I saw two deer wandering about. I’ve no idea where they came from – there are no neighbours who keep such animals as far as I know. I imagine that the deer are well capable of jumping the low fences that are used around here to keep sheep and cattle in their respective paddocks, so they could have come from anywhere.

You take lovely pics, Gordon. I’m one of Bron’s friends, and she often passes on the links to your photos.

Lovely picture! and that in your garden. You must be living in a lovely area. I enjoy seeing you pictures and so get an impression of your part of the world.

Some researchers think that the feral deer population is growing across NSW. The deer in your pic is a fallow deer, probably out to see if you have anything tasty in the garden. 🙂

They can do a fair amount of damage to crops and gardens here in the UK, but with all the other feral animals you have I’m sure a few more will only add to the pleasure of your walks. Great photo as usual.

Hi All. Sadly, or perhaps not so sadly given Richard’s comment, neither deer has been seen since. I’ll see if I can find any more info on the local feral deer population.
