Torch bulb

Torchlight bulb

From macroscape, to microscape. I wondered how a lit bulb would photograph. How much detail can be got around the filament while still managing to photograph the filament. While not exactly (or even slightly) a photographic masterpiece, I worked out that a 1/8000 sec shutter @ f11, ISO 200 seemed to give a reasonable image. The grain, while quite noticeable, isn’t too intrusive.

The major problem, given the extremely shallow depth of focus of the 105 mm macro lens, was trying to focus on something within the bulb while the burning filament burned my retina.
