Blowing in the wind

Dandelion seeds

Having spent the last little while looking at the macro-scape, I spent a little time outside today looking at the micro-scape. Unfortunately, the afternoon storms were rumbling around at the time, so I didn’t venture too far from the house (keeping in mind the number of trees that have been blown up by lightning already this year). And of course, the storm brought the wind with it so I had the extra challenge of photographing microlife while it was being twisted this way and that.

Here we have the top half of a dandelion seed head. The wind wasn’t quite strong enough to blow the seeds away, or perhaps the seeds weren’t ripe enough to fly off. They stayed put.

… and, after all the build up and promise, we didn’t get much rain.
