Diggers Graveyard: retaining wall

The most impressive remains at the Diggers Graveyard mine site are those of this dry-stone retaining wall. This photograph shows only a small part of the wall section. We assume that the miners were attempting to divert water from the Macleay River via this raised water race, to where they were separating the gold from the a soil they were working.
