Something’s missing

The green verdigris of the unusual “hood” protruding from the sandstone walls of Sancta Sophia College had me wondering for a while – until I noticed the stone plinth, also protruding from the wall, some 2 metres or so below. I deduce that, at some stage in the past, a stone or marble statue stood in that spot.

… and the finish on the stonework is a tribute to stonemasons of an age gone by.
